Carl
The Story

Carl fell in love with the JM ethos many years ago when our paths first crossed, and it seemed logical to welcome him aboard the JM love boat. Other than single-handedly doubling the average age in the office - our career 'multi-tasker' (his term for frowning, thinking, worrying, documenting, calculating and trying to solve 'things') helps us plan for the future and manage our existing workload. Rediscovering a love of thai boxing in his early forties led to an increasing appreciation of his own clumsiness, a knee reconstruction and confirmation big boys actually do ‘cry’. After ‘good morning’ the thing most often yelled at Carl is “Why aren’t you on Skype?” as he unsuccessfully wages a one-man resistance against our online communication tool of choice.

Loving this atm:

I really like the ATM near Harry’s Fine Foods so I can get cash out for lunch, without crossing that scary road. (I will get abused for this poor attempt at humour). Also really like this new system called ‘Facebook’ where you can apparently talk to friends, and browse photos of them all at parties you weren’t invited to.

Shooii kicks off

Shooii kicks off

Over recent months, we've been hard at work developing a brand and digital platform for Shooii - the next big thing in online retail and, as the moniker suggests, all about the footwear. Started by Dave Prince and Mark Campbell (who previously brought their shoe expertise to Footlocker), the Shooii team comprises young, shoe-loving guys and girls with a single-minded passion for matching the perfect shoe with its rightful owner. Obsessed with giving unbeatable customer service, and with tons of industry knowledge, Shooii is a veritable hotbed of innovation, passion and service. Oh, and they offer free delivery to boot. We'd write more, but we're busy buying treats for our feet.

Made in the Now

Made in the Now

posted July 18 2011

We want to introduce you to something very close to us. It's special. Conceived by us and been gestating in the JM:Labs belly for sometime now, and we're no longer keeping this bad-boy under wraps Boo-Radley-style. We've actually been busting to share it with you.

So, what is it? It's called Made in the Now (MITN). Every 24 hours, a designer is inspired by a breaking news story and creates a covetable design fit for a T-shirt. The tee's are only available to buy for 24 hours before the process begins again: a new day, a different story, a fresh designer and design to boot - meaning, a brand new tee. Every. Single. Day.

It's never been done before because it's kind of crazy…who in their right mind would create a shirt everyday? We would, we have been and we will continue to do so because we enjoy the thrill of minor heart attacks. And because it's a peaceful protest against some unfortunate hallmarks of the fashion industry - derivative design, mass consumption and irresponsible production. MITN practices responsible fast fashion; whereby, we print our T-shirts locally and only after you order them (so there is no waste), and post them free of charge using reusable packaging.

Jump onto the MITN website and download the app to familiarise yourself with our newest member. It's our pleasure to introduce you, we hope you like it as much as we do.
